About

A farmer who learned to move capital.

I'm Terry Cholka. For forty years I've built things that grow — a farm, companies, and the relationships that let serious capital reach Canadian agriculture. AgNtech Connect is where that work lives now.

The road here

I broke into farming in the 1980s with more nerve than money. I came up through the years that finished other operators — the BSE crisis among them — and kept going. That's where I learned what's real and what isn't, and how to tell the difference quickly.

I grew a farm from 480 acres to more than 10,000, and built it into multiple enterprises. Alongside it, I helped other companies — from start-up to exits — as an investor, director, or advisor: across agriculture, technology, and bioscience. I was an early backer of a Canadian food-processing facility acquired for more than $400 million. I financed and delivered a feature film. Different worlds, one instinct.

I can turn a concept into reality.

None of it came from a fund or a title. It came from being on the ground — knowing the operators, the regulators, and the difference between a deck and a business. That's the judgment I bring to every introduction now.

Why this work

I do this because the rural economy is worth more than it's been allowed to become. There is real capital looking for a way into Canadian agriculture, and real builders who need more than a cheque — and most of them never find each other. Closing that gap, on terms that hold, is work worth doing.

The aim is bigger than any single deal, and I work with people who share it — capital and founders alike.

The aim

To bring people and resources together, from wherever they are, to build the systems behind sustainable agriculture, secure food, and a healthy environment — and to help the rural economy reach its full, sustainable potential, rooted here in Manitoba.

How AgNtech Connect works

AgNtech Connect is a navigator, not a fund. The work is finding the opportunities only a local operator can reach, vetting them hard, structuring them cleanly, and helping open the way to the capital they need — then staying in afterward. Three things run alongside each other:

Analyze & advise

Four decades on the land and in the boardroom, put to work for the people who ask. Honest counsel comes first.

Bring in people & resources

Connecting capital, expertise, and the right partners — governments, funds, family offices, operators — to vetted opportunities here.

Build

Backing founders and building companies — as investor, director, and advisor, from concept through to exit.

And the interests stay aligned. I take a stake in the outcome — my read is only worth something if it proves right.

The mark

The mark is a gateway: two verticals, a span across the top, a brass column standing between them. A gateway is how a relationship begins — access, and an introduction worth making. But the shape carries what comes after it. The span is the structure that wires the verticals together. The brass column is the substrate — weather and water data, proven decision rules, verified field records, test acres, producer trust — lent to each of them and used up by neither. It stands on its own footing and touches nothing above it, and that is deliberate: a funnel sorts and discards, but when a venture on a trellis fails, the substrate is still standing.

Where I stand
Merit, first

I weigh every opportunity, and every person, on merit — the strength of the idea, the operation, and the character behind it. Background and identity don’t enter into it. The door is open to anyone with something real to build.

Non-partisan

I hold no political affiliation and take no partisan side. Good agriculture and good business belong to every party.
